RJ Parry heads to court over non-payment for work on extension and refurbishment in Hampshire
ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV contractors RJ Parry have launched a legal battle against a property owner in a row over an extension and refurbishment scheme.
The company accuses property owner John Hobbs of failing to pay more than £218,000 for work at his home Twin Peaks in Highclere, near Newbury, Hampshire.
RJ Parry is the third contractor to become involved in the scheme after the first two contractors failed to finish the project, according to a High Court writ.
Mr Hobbs decided to carry out substantial extension and refurbishment work at the property in 2005, and took on PPRS as his architect, contract administrator and employer’s agent, the writ says.
RJ Parry, of John Hall Close, Faversham, Kent, started work on the project in July 2005, and carried out additional works when requested to do so, it is alleged. The work was practically complete in July 2006, and snagging issues were finished by October 2006, the writ claims.
Mr Hobbs made various payments totalling £275,000 as the work progressed, but has not paid the final account of £218,933.71, in breach of contract, the writ says.
Now RJ Parry is seeking payment of the money, as well as interest of £31,142.53 and continuing interest of £47.99 a day.
