Architect鈥檚 workload in Asia now accounts for one third of business
Coal Drops Yard architect Heatherwick Studio saw turnover and profit both jump last year with its work in Asia now accounting for a third of its business.
The practice said turnover for the year to March was 拢26.5m, up from 拢19m the previous year, while profit before tax soared from 拢1.7m to 拢5.2m.
The King鈥檚 Cross-based studio firm is continuing to work on its nearby Google HQ 鈥 designed in collaboration with BIG 鈥 while it was part of the winning bid team for a new terminal at Singapore鈥檚 Changi Airport.
Turnover in Asia more than doubled to 拢8m but its business in the UK slumped one third to 拢3.3m
In a statement accompanying the results, Heatherwick said 2019鈥檚 bolstered figures had been in line with expectations 鈥渄ue to securing new projects and progressing on long-term projects with effective management of costs鈥 at the same time as making long-term investment in the studio.
