Spanish contractor, which is considering a bid for airport operator BAA, sees net profit fall from 拢360m in 2004 to 拢283m in 2005.

Ferrovial, the Spanish contractor considering a bid for airport operator BAA, has experienced a 2% drop in profits for 2005 compared with the previous year.

The company, which owns contractor Amey, saw its net profit fall from 拢360m in 2004 to 拢283m in 2005. However, total revenue rose 24% to 拢6.12 bn over the same period.

Ferrovial put the decrease down to exceptional gains in 2004, when the company divested of its water businesses. It said that excluding one-off profits its net profit would have expanded by around 32 % from 2004 to 2005.

Ferrovial's revenue was boosted by strong growth outside of Spain, including winning a 拢400m contract to rebuild schools in Bradford under the 好色先生TV Schools for the Future programme.
