The only real argument the prince made at the RIBA last night was that, basically, old things are better than new things
There was no booing. No mass walk-outs. No burning effigies. Despite the controversy surrounding his speech at the RIBA, the Prince of Wales was greeted with nothing more controversial than polite applause.
Controversy, in fact, was far from the order of the evening. The prince said more or less what everyone expected him to say.
First, it was time to say sorry. It had been widely trailed that the prince would apologise for his famous 鈥渃arbuncle鈥 speech, but Charles' sorry was hardly all-encompassing.
