Scandinavian engineering consultant wins contracts at home and in Cambodia

Poyry, the Finland-based engineering consultant that is a major competitor of Britain鈥檚 WSP and Atkins, this morning announced the awards of contracts worth 鈧6.5m (拢5.4m).

The group, which has eight offices in the UK, has won a 鈧4m (拢3.41m) railway management contract from the Finnish Transport Agency. Poyry will have to maintain the railways, structures and equipment on 1600km track in the north of the country.

The consultant has already managed the Northern Finland Network for seven years, so was favoured to win the new contract.

Further afield, Poyry鈥檚 energy business division has won an engineering services contract on a coal fired power plant in Cambodia. The deal is worth 鈧2.5m (拢2.13) and will see Poyry make a design review of the plant as well as supervise construction.

The plant is due for completion in early 2013.

Poyry has 7,000 experts in 50 countries and made net sales of 鈧674m (拢574m) in 2009.
