Wildcat action follows 1,200 staff walkout in Lincolnshire over use of foreign labour
Unofficial strikes at oil terminals and power stations have spread to more UK sites as a row over the use of foreign labour escalates.
According to the BBC, the action has spread to power stations at Drax and Eggborough in Yorkshire and Ratcliffe in Nottinghamshire, and BP's Saltend refinery near Hull.
It follows a walkout by 1,200 contract staff in a row over jobs at Total's Lindsey oil refinery in North Lincolnshire last week. The Unite union told the BBC that conciliation service Acas was dealing with both parties in the dispute but that there were no direct talks between the two sides.
The news follows a report in ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV last week that major construction projects including Crossrail and the Olympics could be threatened by a summer of strikes.
More than 140 GMB and Unite shop stewards voted unanimously earlier this month to take industrial action after pay negotiations broke down with the Engineering Construction Industry Association (ECIA).
