Ludgate House and Sampson House would be redeveloped as part of the residential scheme
The architecture practice formed from an acrimonious split at Pinnacle architect Kohn Pedersen Fox has won a commission to draw up plans for a major residential scheme on London’s Southbank.
PLP, formed by former London directors of KPF, confirmed this week that it had been hired by the Carlyle Group to draw up plans for the redevelopment of Ludgate House and Sampson House, situated adjacent to Blackfriars Bridge.
ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV understands the Carlyle Group, which bought the properties as part of a portfolio of six London office buildings in July 2010 for £671m, is considering redevelopment plans that will see the two buildings, situated either side of a railway line, treated as a single development.
The buildings currently comprise 170,000ft2 of office space at Ludgate House and 350,000 ft2 of office space at Sampson House. Industry sources said Carlyle was considering a residential-led scheme with some office and retail space.
PLP declined to comment on the detail of the commission.
The sites are adjacent to the Blackfriars station under construction on the Southbank, and sit next to the site of the planned Beetham Tower, bought by developer Berkeley Group last week.
