Populous-designed arena will have a capacity of 12,000
Plans have been submitted to Bristol council for the 12,000-capacity Bristol Arena.
The Populous-designed arena will feature an adaptive facade and a masonry plinth base to reflect surrounding buildings.
There will also be outdoor seating and performance area, as well as an amphitheatre.
Following a public consultation, changes to the plans include a widened walkway and cycle path up to the arena, as well as additional shuttle trains to run between Bristol Temple Meads and Bristol Parkway stations for the biggest events, and increased cycle parking.
Contractors Bam, Bouygues, Sir Robert McAlpine, Laing O’Rourke and Buckingham Group have been shortlisted for the venue, with a contract set to be awarded in February 2016.
