Sheppard Robson behind city centre development
Plans have been submitted for a 拢280m mixed-use district in central Leeds designed by a team including Sheppard Robson.
Developers Glenbrook and Town Centre Securities (TCS) have formed a JV to develop the Whitehall Riverside development close to the city鈥檚 train station.
If approved, it will comprise up to 532 apartments across two 15- and 18-storey blocks with ground floor commercial space and a series of new pedestrian and cycling routes.
Two more buildings will house 215,000 sq ft of office space, alongside a 478-space multi story car park and a 108 room hotel. The site is sandwiched between the city centre and the River Aire.
Landowners TCS have already brought forward three schemes on the site, including the No.1 Whitehall Riverside office block, the residential development known as Whitehall Waterfront and a Premier Inn hotel completed in 2017.
The project team also includes local architect Enjoy Design, multi-disciplinary consultant Curtins, which also has an office in the city, and ID Planning.
Galliford Try is currently building a 拢105m PRS scheme at a former steelworks factory at nearby Whitehall Road.
Last November, the city council gave the green light to a 拢270m plan to build two residential towers on the former International Swimming Pool site.
The DLA Architecture-designed proposals will consist of 629 apartments alongside a 24-storey student accommodation tower and a 15-storey hotel and office block.
