Leaked documents reveal government is proposing a film centre on London's South Bank
Plans for a 拢200m national film centre on London鈥檚 South Bank have been revealed in a leaked Green Paper.
According to documents seen by the Evening Standard, prime minister Gordon Brown and culture secretary Andy Berman are hoping the proposals will turn the UK into the 鈥渨orld鈥檚 creative hub鈥.
The project could finally rehouse the British Film Institute which has been lobbying for a permanent national centre on the South Bank. It currently occupies a temporary building under Waterloo Bridge.
It is thought that a mix of public and private cash could be used for the 拢200m film centre although how much the film industry would contribute is unclear.
