Scheme latest phase of city鈥檚 拢1.4bn Island Quarter development
CPMG has submitted plans for a major new bioscience complex as part of the latest phase of Nottingham鈥檚 拢1.4bn Island Quarter site.
Plans were lodged with Nottingham city council last week for a 245,000 sq ft research and laboratory scheme consisting of two blocks of five and seven storeys connected by a glazed link at upper levels.
The scheme would build out the northern edges of the wider 36-acre development, which also features a 700-bed student accommodation block designed by Day Architectural which is due to complete in 2024.
The Island Quarter, which has been masterplanned by Leonard Design Architects and Studio Egret West for developer Conygar, is located on the city鈥檚 former Boots Island site and was given outline planning permission in 2019.
It will also include build to rent homes, a 223 bed hotel, a and 3,000sq m of office space.
Conygar property director Chistoher Ware said CPMG鈥檚 science park would create vital research space for Nottingham鈥檚 most innovative businesses and grow the city鈥檚 standing in the bioscience sector.
The first phase of work at Island Quarter was awarded to Sir Robert McAlpine two years ago and involved a three-storey pavilion on the waterfront featuring two restaurants and events space.
