JV’s plans involve 460 new homes, 40% of which will be affordable
A joint venture between Barratt London and housing association Hyde Group has been given the green light to build 460 new homes as part of the Kodak factory transformation in Harrow, north west London.
The large scale residential-led mixed-use development, led by the joint venture Harrow View LLP, secured reserved matters permission.
Designed by Pollard Thomas Edwards, the first phase of the Harrow View East development will deliver the new homes, 40% of which will be affordable, along with car parking and cycle storage.
There will also be a park with pedestrian and cycle routes that will span the length of the site.
An energy centre will also be built and it will retain the iconic Kodak chimney, accommodating all future energy needs while also providing over 600m2 of flexible community space.
Construction is due to start this summer.
Barratt London and Hyde Group purchased a large portion of the 12ha former industrial complex early last year, with outline consent for new homes, work and community space.
The JV has worked with London-based Pollard Thomas Edwards Architects, Harrow Council and the community to create a revised and improved scheme, with the first phase now consented under reserved matters.
Future phases are expected to deliver more new homes, offices, retail and later living accommodation, as well as creating up to 1,500 new jobs and delivering £10m worth of infrastructure improvements.
