Good news for contractor Bovis as 鈥淭ransforming Tate Britain鈥 job given planning green light
Plans for a 拢30m revamp of the Tate Britain have been approved by Westminster Council.
The plans, which are to be built out by contractor Bovis, are to extend the social spaces in the Millbank Grade II listed building and connect the ground and lower floors with a spiral staircase in the building鈥檚 central rotunda.
The decision will be a welcome piece of good news for Bovis, which beat Mace to the job in August last year.
Councillor Alastair Moss, chairman of Westminster Council鈥檚 planning committee, said: 鈥淲e feel that these improvements will make sure that the Tate continues to be a global success. These plans will enhance this Grade II listed building, and improve an already successful and internationally renowned gallery making it even better for people who want to visit it.鈥
