Mipim latest: Central Docks plans boast 1,000 homes and 186,000m2 of mixed use floorspace
Peel Holdings has revealed new details of its 拢5bn redevelopment of Liverpool鈥檚 historic waterfront.
It said Liverpool Waters鈥 eight-plot Central Docks phase would deliver more than 1,000 homes, in towers of up to 44 storeys, and 186,000m2 of commercial space close to the floating Liverpool Cruise Terminal.
Peel said that although the Liverpool Waters masterplan had been a work in progress for the past 10 years, it expected to see more than 拢300m of construction work starting on site by the end of this year.
Liverpool Waters development director Lindsey Ashworth said the new Central Docks details 鈥 announced today at Mipim 鈥 were 鈥渢he next chapter鈥 in the story of the 60ha development.
鈥淥ur ambition has always been to create a waterfront for the world, a sustainable environment with stunning views where people and businesses can flourish together,鈥 he said.
鈥淯nveiling this southern part of the Central Docks neighbourhood brings us one step closer to re-establishing Liverpool鈥檚 waterfront as a gateway to the world.鈥
Liverpool Waters鈥檚 footprint covers a 2.3km stretch of the city鈥檚 historic dockland waterfront to the west of Pier Head. Around half of it is within the city鈥檚 World Heritage Site catchment area.
In addition to the homes and office space, peel鈥檚 proposals also include a 7ha public park.
