Energy specialist says plant could create 100 construction jobs and power 37,000 homes
Peel Group has revealed plans for a 拢70m biomass power plant in Trafford.
The Barton Renewable Energy Plant will take two years to construction and create about 100 jobs in the sector.
The 20MW biomass plant, located by the Manchester Ship Canal, will distribute electricity to the National Grid via an underground cable. Local businesses will receive heat from the plant via a network of pipes underground.
Trafford council will have to give planning approval before the scheme can go ahead.
Peel says the plant could save up to 75,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year and could power the equivalent of 37,000 homes.
