Electrical Construction Industry Association and unions came to agreement over salary rise last night
Official strikes which would have wreaked havoc on power stations across the UK may be called off, following a meeting with shop stewards last night.
The Engineering Construction Industry Association had been proposing a pay freeze in 2010, but conceded an increase in a meeting with unions two weeks ago. Union sources said several other gripes were also resolved in workers' favour at the meeting.
The offer was then put to shop stewards last night.
Phil Davis, GMB union national officer, said the shop stewards had 鈥渁greed to recommend the offer to the membership鈥.
鈥淚t looks like we've finally got a settlement,鈥 he said.
The GMB union had balloted workers at seven sites across the UK, including Sellafield in Cumbria.
