Designers behind Thames Barrier Park will work with Allain Provost on landmark city park scheme

Birmingham’s first new City Park for a hundred years came a step closer today when Patel Taylor and Allain Provost were announced as project designers.

Architect Patel Taylor was selected from a field of six practices by a design panel led by CABE chairman John Sorrel.

Patel Taylor were behind the Thames Barrier Park in London. It will be assisted by park designer Allain Provost, who created Parc Citroen in Paris, and Arup.

Patel Taylor’s winning design is composed of three interconnected gardens forming a centrepiece to Eastside and connecting it to the core of the city.

Councillor Hardeman said, “Creating a new City Park in Eastside is a top priority for the City Council. It has been a key cornerstone of the Eastside vision from the outset, and has been significant in attracting major developers to invest in the area."
