Arup's blogger at the summit reports on rising tension over the weekend as world leaders arrive and the successful fringe events
Day six
It feels increasingly like a great privilege to be at this historic meeting. Friday morning's UKTI formal side event went well inside the Bella Centre with delegates saying it was one of the best they had been to. The room was full and questions went on and on.
I presented Arup's integrated planning approach, retrofitting, culture futures and the Institute for Sustainability. We then moved from Bella Centre to the centre of Copenhagen where we attended Denmark's Business and Climate Change meeting hosted by Denmark’s business lobbying organisation.
Here our retrofit videos were used to set the scene on the transition to 2050. In reality this meeting did no more than confirm the content of the Copenhagen Communiqué and emphasise the desire for a high global carbon price.
Then back to Bella Centre and the evening's World Future Council Formal Side event where I presented the ecological age research project.
The town centre is full of riot police and an air of concern over anarchists has taken hold.
Negotiations reached a crescendo over the weekend as national leaders began to arrive.
