Office of Metropolitan Architecture has designed 1000 apartments for the 8ha site
The Office of Metropolitan Architecture has been chosen to design a 8ha apartment complex in Singapore.
The practice, led by Dutch starchitect Rem Koolhaas, has planned a collection of 36 interlocking six-storey blocks stacked in a hexagonal arrangement for developer CapitaLand Residential.
The 鈥渧ertical village鈥 has communal green spaces and facilities on its roofs and terraces, and surrounds a series of large-scale courtyards.
The design is intended to contrast with the clusters of vertical towers that typify residential developments in Singapore.
Patricia Chia, chief executive of CapitaLand Residential Singapore, said: 鈥溾淲e are thrilled with the opportunity to create such an innovative project in partnership with OMA. The design expands our progressive ambition and enables us to add a radically new concept to environmentally-conscious living in Singapore.鈥
