Surprise move sees Tony McGuirk become chairman while Terry takes over architect's southern region.

Nick Terry has stepped down as the chairman of ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV Design Partnership. He will be replaced by Tony McGuirk, who currently heads the southern region.

Terry, who has been chairman of BDP since 2002, will take over the southern region. The reasons behind his surprise decision to stand down are unclear at the moment.

Terry left BDP in 1974 after two years at the firm, but rejoined in 1990 as head of one of its three architecture teams.

Based in London, Terry's projects include the Royal Opera House, Royal Albert Hall, and Jubilee Place at Canary Wharf.
