The National Federation of Builders has launched a subsidiary aimed at small and medium-sized housebuilders.
The House Builders Association will be formed from the NFB鈥檚 800 housebuilder members. It will receive strategic advice from housing expert Roger Humber.
An NFB spokesperson said: 鈥淢edium and smaller-sized housebuilders have an agenda that is significantly different from that of volume housebuilders.
鈥淭hey need appropriate representation that identifies their particular concerns and raises them with decision-makers and opinion-formers.鈥
The HBA plans to focus on regulatory issues, including PPG3 and the government鈥檚 growth area strategies, which many smaller housebuilders see as a barrier to smaller sites that could be used to fill the housing gap.
In addition to group representation to government members of the HBA will be given access to NFB advice on taxation, construction law, health and safety, sustainability and the environment.
