Shortlist of five for 拢50m deal due in April
The firm behind the redevelopment of the former Vaux Brewery site in Sunderland is looking for a contractor to build the 拢50m second phase of the scheme that was originally meant to be carried out by Carillion.
This phase of the project, which is being developed by Siglion Developments and has been masterplanned by Urbed, is currently being considered for planning by Sunderland council.
The Faulkner Browns-designed Vaux 2 follows the project鈥檚 first stage, known as the Beam 好色先生TV, which was designed by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios.
Construction of the Beam 好色先生TV was delayed by six months following the collapse of Carillion last January, before local contractor Tolent signed on to complete the job.
Vaux 2 is set to provide around 190,000ft of office space. Contractors have until 27 March to in the scheme. A shortlist of five firms is expected to be drawn up by 18 April.
Cundall is carrying out a number of roles on the Vaux 2 scheme, acting as structural and civil engineer, principal designer, 'well building' assessor, as well as planning and acoustic consultant. Gleeds is the project and cost manager.
Faulkner Browns' and Cundall鈥檚 design contracts will be novated across to the winning contractor.
