Development to be called Paddington Place
Sellar has released new images of the firm鈥檚 proposed redevelopment of the Paddington Royal Mail sorting office at 31 London Street.
Designed by Renzo Piano 好色先生TV Workshop, the scheme by Sellar Property Group and Great Western Developments Ltd, a subsidiary of Singaporean publicly listed Hotel Properties Limited, is to be called Paddington Place and includes plans for over an acre of new public realm.
The new public realm will include a piazza that will establish a new 鈥渇ront door鈥 to Paddington Station, which will house a new enlarged Bakerloo Line ticket hall.
Meanwhile the 254m crystal light-reflecting tower will feature a sky garden and restaurant spanning 13,000 sq ft. There will also be over 108,000 sq ft of office space designed to accommodate small to medium sized businesses, over 330 new homes and 50,000 sq ft of retail space at Praed Street, rail concourse and tube station levels.
WSP is engineer on the project.
If planning is approved it is expected that the four-year build programme will create 450 construction jobs a year.
Sellar Property Group chairman Irvine Sellar said: 鈥淭his exciting transformational development will enhance this important part of central London.
鈥淧addington鈥檚 transport interchange will be fit for purpose for the 21st Century and the wider mixed-use development and public space will enhance the way residents, visitors, businesses and their people live work and play, and will make a major contribution in revitalising this district.鈥
Chris Lim, group executive director of Hotel Properties Limited, said: 鈥淭his is a unique opportunity involving an investment of over 拢1 billion to provide many public benefits and a scheme which we believe will drive further investment in the wider area.鈥
