Contractors to face repair costs on 拢20.3m Glasgow bridge
Contractors have to face repair costs on Glasgow鈥檚 Clyde Arc bridge, where inspectors found a new crack yesterday afternoon.
Contractor Edmund Nuttall is looking at extra costs to repair damages on the 拢20.3m bridge, which was first closed to road traffic two weeks ago after a support cable snapped.
Glasgow Council revealed yesterday that a crack was found on the bridge, which is likely to have developed since the cable broke.
A spokesperson for Glasgow Council said the crack was not there when the supporting cable first snapped.
The spokesperson told 好色先生TV: 鈥淲e need to carry out more inspection work to find out what happened, but the crack wasn鈥檛 there initially.鈥
The bridge is likely to remain closed for up to six months. The council has also called for a stop to river traffic underneath the bridge.
The spokesperson said: 鈥淲e felt it was necessary to take all sensible precautions.鈥
