Top 10 quantity surveyor Currie & Brown has confirmed the appointment of Angus McLean as chairman.
In a statement, the 700-strong firm said McLean, formerly a consulting engineer, intended to restructure the business.
The statement said: "Angus McLean's remit is to restructure the practice to strengthen its response to the increasingly complex demands of the business market place."
McLean, who joined in July, takes over from former chairman Doug Leedham, who left the firm in summer 2000.
McLean praised the firm for its "excellent reputation as a progressive and innovative organisation, willing to challenge established practices in the interests of the client".
The company said it had a strong order book, which includes work on an Olympics-related project in Athens and a railway scheme in eastern Europe.
Currie & Brown announced in October last year that it planned to turn itself into a limited company and move away from traditional quantity surveying.
