Division launched earlier this year identifies market as 鈥榮hort-term鈥 priority
Network Rail鈥檚 international consulting arm is prioritising winning work in eastern Europe, an internal document seen by 好色先生TV reveals.
The UK鈥檚 national rail operator 鈥 which launched its consultancy division Network Rail Consulting in July 鈥 ranks the eastern European market as a 鈥渟hort-term鈥 priority, ahead of 鈥渕edium-term鈥 priorities the US, Canada and India.
Network Rail Consulting will 鈥減roactively market鈥 in these four regions and 鈥渨here possible execute work as a lead consultant鈥.
The organisation lists the former Soviet Baltic states, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Romania, Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania, Macedonia, Kosovo, Serbia, Bulgaria, Greece and Turkey as its short-term priority. A number of countries, including Brazil, Australia and East Timor will be 鈥渞eactive鈥 targets where it would be prepared to work but won鈥檛 actively market services.
Network Rail Consulting announced in July that it has established strategic alliances with CH2M Hill and Atkins in target markets.
The document classes all other world countries as 鈥渘o go鈥 areas for Network Rail Consulting.
A Network Rail spokesperson said its international consulting arm was targeting countries that could benefit from the expertise it had built up.
鈥淲e鈥檙e looking at places that have similar large-scale railways that need to be updated 鈥 India is a good example of that,鈥 he said.
