Work expected to complete in 2025
Network Rail has handed Murphy a 拢93m contract to build the new Cambridge South railway station.
The new two-storey, four-platform station, which lies on the West Anglia Main Line, will be delivered adjacent to the Cambridge Biomedical Campus.
Together with Alstom and South Rail Systems Alliance, the North London contractor will also modify and enhance the rail infrastructure to support the new station.
This will include remodelling the existing track layout, installing two additional track loops, enhancing the Shepreth branch junction and modifying the railway on the southern approach to Cambridge station.

Enabling works are underway, with work expected to be completed in 2025.
Joe Kennedy, project director for Murphy: 鈥淢urphy has made significant progress over recent months completing the enabling works, commenced installation of all four platforms, station building piling and undertaken all groundworks to facilitate the track being realigned during a blockade in December.鈥
Group revenue at Murphy hit 拢1.5bn last year, with both income and underlying profits rising on the previous year.
