Hackney council awards its 拢167m BSF programme to Mounchel Parkman consortium, beating Bouygues

Mouchel Parkman Babcock Education (mpb) has been named preferred bidder in Hackney鈥檚 好色先生TV Schools for the Future programme, beating competition from Bouygues Partnership for Education and Community.

The council said the consortium was 鈥渕ost able鈥 to realise Hackney鈥檚 vision for the 拢167m BSF scheme, which will see six secondary schools and four special needs schools rebuilt or remodelled.

The council is likely to use a mixture of PFI and traditional contracts to deliver the programme. Financial close is expected by spring next year and construction is likely to start shortly after that.

Bid director at mpb Simon Treglown said the consortium was delighted with the decision, which signals its first successful bid for a BSF scheme.

He said: 鈥淲e look forward to working with the schools, the Council and the Learning Trust to design and build schools which will better places for Hackney children to learn in and in which to achieve their aspirations.鈥

Cabinet member for Children鈥檚 Services at the council, Rita Krishna, said: 鈥淭he selection of mpb signals the start of a new era in education for children in Hackney.
