NG Bailey will install energy management system across 395 stores
Retail giant Morrisons has hired NG Bailey to roll out an energy management system across 395 of its stores.
NG Bailey has trialled the system, called Rare Energy, in 105 Morrisons鈥 stores and the retailer has agreed to extend the scheme across its whole 500-store estate.
Morrisons said it has achieved energy savings of 16% across the trial stores using the Rare Energy system.
NG Bailey has partnered with US technology firm Elutions to produce the Rare Energy system, which identifies and manages a company鈥檚 energy use across one or more buildings.
Stuart Kirk, head of energy for Morrisons, said: 鈥淚n support of our carbon reduction target of reducing our absolute carbon emissions by 30% by 2020, we are considering a number of approaches to energy efficiency.
鈥淎pplying this framework gives us the opportunity to dig deeper into the performance of our stores and the results so far speak for themselves.
鈥淩are Energy will support our fit for the future programme in considering UK wide initiatives to balance demand with potential intermittent generation.鈥
Sean Wickens, NG Bailey鈥檚 group business development director, said: 鈥淭his is a risk-free investment with the ability to reduce Morrisons鈥 energy usage by as much as 30% over a five-year period, it will also benefit the company鈥檚 on-going maintenance regime.
鈥淲e鈥檙e so confident about the offering, we鈥檝e guaranteed that they will, at the very least, see a pay back on their investment within a defined timeframe.鈥
