Morgan Ashurst has been awarded two contracts worth 拢71m as part of Hull council鈥檚 好色先生TV Schools for the Future (BSF) programme.
It follows an agreement by the Hull Esteem Consortium, comprising Morgan Sindall Investments, Robertson Capital Projects and the Sewell Group, which saw it reach financial close on a 拢400m, 25-year partnership to redevelop 17 schools.
The initial four-year construction programme is expected to be worth about 拢200m to Morgan Ashurst, which has now started construction of the first two new schemes.
These comprise a 拢38m scheme to build Winifred Holtby and Tweendykes 鈥 a new secondary and special educational needs school in Midmere Avenue, Hull; and a 拢32.8m scheme to build Archbishop Sentamu Academy 鈥 a new academy in Preston Road, Hull.
The Hull Esteem Consortium will deliver seven new-build schemes and 10 remodels or refurbishment projects.
The new facilities will comprise seven special needs schools, three community schools, three non-catchment voluntary-aided schools, two academies, one Pathfinder Trust school and one co-located community secondary and special school.
Construction work has already started and is expected to be completed in 2014.
Sewell Construction is joint lead construction partner in the Hull Esteem Consortium working with other Hull construction partners to deliver the programme.
