Concrete frame specialists wanted for Stratford job
Concrete and steel frame contractors are being put on notice for an 拢8m deal to carry out work on the new V&A East scheme at Stratford Waterfront.
The new museum, designed by Irish architect O鈥橠onnell + Tuomey, is part of a new culture and education development, East Bank, which will also include Sadler鈥檚 Wells East theatre, a new campus for the London College of Fashion, the BBC and UCL鈥檚 new Stratford campus.
The London Legacy Development Corporation (LLDC), which is acting as the contracting authority on the project, is looking for a contractor to carry out the 拢8m job to deliver the V&A鈥檚 new East London base (pictured below).
According to a contract notice published on the Official Journal, the LLDC is looking for a contractor to deliver structural cores, external public lift cores, structural steel frame and structural concrete.
The contractor will also be responsible for producing plant rooms and areas, builders works and fire protection, as well as staircases and ramps.
The LLDC is looking to invite five firms to bid for the job, with firms having until 16 January to register their interest.
Shortlisted contractors are expected to be contacted in the middle of March.
The work is the latest opportunity to emerge at the 拢1.1bn East Bank development, with the LLDC putting facades specialists on notice about 拢37m of work at the scheme last month.
The entire Stratford Waterfront development is being managed by Mace.
