The Monument in the City of London is undergoing a £4.5m makeover.
The landmark, which was last restored in 1888, is expected to reopen in December next year after an 18-month programme of improvements and repairs. Cathedral Works Organisation, which also relocated Sir Christopher Wren’s Temple Bar from Hertfordshire to the City in 2004, is contractor, with Julian Harrap as consultant architect.
