Operator escapes injury after telehandler turns over after road accident
Construction work at the Arora Hotel next to Heathrow Terminal 5 was disrupted yesterday by an overturned mobile crane.
The telehandler, which was leased in by contractor Laing O’Rourke, was involved in a road accident and rolled over. No-one was hurt.
An eyewitness said construction workers stopped work to take pictures with their mobile phones, but were quickly prevented from doing so by senior staff.
Although main construction has finished on the terminal building, Laing O’Rourke are still in the process of building a hotel complex next to the the Terminal 5 site.
A Laing O’Rourke spokesperson said: “We don’t know the reason why the accident happened yet, but we are investigating."
