Contractor Verry faces £100,000 row over plastering project
Construction contractor William Verry is facing a £100,000 legal battle in a row over the cost of plastering works at a project in East London.
MDG Drywall and Plastering, which provided drylining and plastering services at the Hopetown site in Old Montague Road, Whitechapel, is suing William Verry for more than £94,000 plus interest.
MDG submitted its application for payment of £323,700 in November 2005, and says it was also entitled to another £68,700 for the works, and that William Verry agreed to pay another £18,808.75 for accelerative measures.
These latter two payments, totalling £87,708.75, should have been paid by January 6 2006, according to a writ issued in London’s High Court.
But in breach of contract, William Verry failed to pay the £87,708.75 and another sum of £8,071 also due, it is alleged, although it did pay £259,936.13 for the works.
Now MDG is suing for payment totalling £94,878.88, plus interest.
The writ was issued by Marshall Hatchick of Suffolk, ref Michael Thew.
Postscript
MDG Drywall and William Verry are currently negotiating a mutually acceptable account settlement and the companies foresee there to be a continued working relationship between their organisations.
