Plan for 27-storey St Andrews development at Tower Hamlets in east London gets green light
The mayor of London, Boris Johnson, has approved a 27-storey residential tower in east London designed by Allies & Morrison for Barratt Homes and Circle Anglia.
The St Andrews development will bring 964 new homes, a school and a 拢4.6m healthcare facility to the Bromley-by-Bow area of Tower Hamlets. Half of the units will be designated affordable homes. The scheme also features 1ha of public space.
The London Development Agency, the Department for Communities and Local Government, the Homes and Communities Agency and the London Thames Gateway Development Corporation are all contributing to the design and funding of the development.
Mayor Johnson said: 鈥淲e must not be downbeat and cannot halt construction in the capital - we need to continue to spend wisely and support these developments, as continued investment will sustain jobs so we are ready to compete in the global market when the upturn arrives.鈥
