The Co-operative Group and Manchester Place are to sell four plots earmarked for residential development to investors and developers
The Co-operative Group and Manchester Place are to sell off four plots totalling 2.37 acres on the fringe of Angel Meadow Park.
Three of the plots are being sold by The Co-operative Group and one is being sold by the local and national government partnership, Manchester Place.
The sites being marketed are earmarked for residential development and could provide 500 new homes. There is no planning associated with any of the plots so far.
Manchester Place chief executive Deborah McLaughlin, said: 鈥淎ngel Meadow offers an exceptional opportunity to deliver a range of high quality homes in a key city centre location, five minutes鈥 walk from Victoria Station.
鈥淭he city continues to grow with the population expected to reach 600,000 and we must push the pace of residential development to keep pace with this economic and jobs growth.鈥

鈥淲e have already seen a substantial amount of interest in residential development in Manchester from a range of investors both national and international and we are keen to start serious discussions to bring sites forward.鈥
The Angel Meadow plots mark the first phase of the Northern Gateway, a sweep of land from Victoria station north taking in New Cross, The Irk Valley and Collyhurst which in total has the potential for a new neighbourhood of 7,000 homes supported by social infrastructure.
Manchester Place is a partnership established between Manchester City Council and the Homes and Communities Agency to drive and facilitate the city鈥檚 residential growth ambition. It has access to 拢300m Greater Manchester Housing Investment Fund and devolved powers over planning and land acquisition.
