Plant hire boss in Derbyshire takes dramatic revenge after discovering flirty texts to girlfriend
A plant hire boss has crushed his love-rival's car with a 13-ton digger after discovering the worker had been having an affair with his girlfriend.
Martyn Wright, 30, from Derbyshire pleaded guilty to criminal damage and was given a 12-month conditional discharge. He was also ordered to pay worker Anthony Simpson 拢2,500 in compensation.
Outside the court Wright admitted: 鈥淚 brooded on it for a couple of weeks before I did what I did, but everyone knows I'm not a man to be messed with. If you mess with fire you're going to get burned.鈥
The father of two had discovered flirty text messages and missed calls from Simpson on his girlfriend's mobile phone. Peter Bettany, prosecuting, told the courts Wright hit the car a number of times, completely writing off the vehicle.
Simpson, who had been friends with Wright since childhood, admitted the affair last night. Speaking on the attack on his car he said: 鈥淲hat could I have done? I stayed out of the way because you don't argue with a 13-ton digger.鈥
Wright is now back with his girlfriend.
