Scheme for 150 Holborn granted permission by Camden council
Architect Make has won planning permission for an 80,000ft2 redevelopment of an office block in Chancery Lane for development manager Ocubis.
The building, which is located directly next to Chancery Lane tube station, will keep the 30,000ft2 of retail space on the ground floor under the revamp, which will see 80,000ft2 of offices and six apartments in the completed rebuild.
The redevelopment of 150 Holborn will retain the building鈥檚 structural frame, introducing new lifts and rationalizing plant and equipment. The building鈥檚 roof will be removed with new levels created and roof-top terraces for both the offices and homes.
The existing building envelope will be over-clad with a 鈥減uffer jacket鈥 of insulation to meet current energy standards, and will meet a Bream 鈥渆xcellent鈥 rating. It was given permission by Camden Council shortly before Christmas.
Graham Longman, lead project architect at Make said, 鈥淚t鈥檚 a joy to work within this site鈥檚 unique context, characterized by wonderful buildings by great architects such as Waterhouse, Butterfly and Wren. We are confident our design proposal compliments and enhances the existing building and its surroundings.鈥
The building is run by development manager Ocubis on behalf of owner Laffly.
