Mace has been appointed to deliver a 拢21.4m civic office scheme for the London Borough of Bexley.

Mace will work with architects Bennetts Associates on the refurbishment and extension of a vacant 1980s office building for the council.

The contractor will refurbish the 11,000 sq m building and construct a 2,000 sq m extension room.

Mace will also provide furniture, fixtures and equipment and will take responsibility of move management on the project.

Once completed the council will move from its four main office sites to the one building.

The contract was won under the Improvement and Efficiency South East (IESE) framework.

Cllr Colin Campbell, deputy council leader of the London Borough of Bexley, said: 鈥淲e are delighted to have Mace as our main contractor for this important project, which will help stimulate over 拢100m investment in Bexleyheath town centre.

鈥淎chieving a single location is an important element in our efficiency programme and will help us reduce our running costs by well over 拢1m a year.

鈥淲e will pay for building and its refurbishment by selling our current offices sites around the Borough.鈥�

EC Harris is project manager and Buro Happold is the engineering consultant on the scheme.
