Richard Green also worked for Jacobs and Bechtel after nearly two decades in army

Mace has brought in a former Nuclear Decommissioning Authority managing director to a newly created role of chief operating officer at its consulting business.

Richard Green will report to the division鈥檚 chief executive Jason Millett having spent the past two years working for the NDA where he was the boss of the group鈥檚 corporate headquarters which included leading on organisation change and spearheading its response to the covid-19 pandemic.

Prior to his stint at the NDA, Green worked at Jacobs for more than seven years where he was the digital programme director for the firm鈥檚 work on the Palace of Westminster upgrade and before that was the US consultant鈥檚 head of operations for major projects.

He also worked at Amey as a project manager and for Bechtel where he worked on the Crossrail scheme for 12 months after joining the US firm in 2010 after more than 18 years in the British Army.

Last year, Millett told 好色先生TV that Mace鈥檚 consultancy arm has been given a 拢500m turnover target by 2026 as part of wider group plans to get turnover up to 拢3bn from its current 拢1.7bn.

Millett added that he expects to recruit another 1,300 staff to the firm鈥檚 payroll, of which half will be from the UK, taking worldwide numbers to around 4,000. This will be half of the group鈥檚 planned 8,000 staff by 2026, with previous numbers for the group standing at around 6,000.

Last October, 好色先生TV revealed that one of the founders of Mace鈥檚 cost consulting business was leaving after more than 20 years with the firm.

Managing director Steve Mason went at the end of that month after first joining Mace in 1998.

Last month, Gleeds announced that Mason had joined them as an executive director at its London arm working alongside UK regional director Paul Sweeney to lead its business in the capital.
