Government handed Luton and Dunstable hospital almost £100m
The NHS trust responsible for Luton and Dunstable hospital is sounding out firms for a £125m overhaul of its main campus.
Luton and Dunstable University Hospital NHS foundation trust was given £99.5m in government funding in August to help bankroll the project.
The redevelopment includes a new three-storey critical care building, that will also house office accommodation. Construction of the critical care facility is expected to start next year and be finished in 2021.
The other part of the project will be the construction of a new acute services block.
This portion of the scheme, which is expected to start in 2021 and complete in 2024, will see the construction of a new five-storey building that will house a delivery suite, maternity wards, neonatal unit and operating theatres.
The trust is hosting an on 4 November where it will spell out its plans and give potential bidders a chance to meet the design team.
The team is made up of healthcare specialist Murphy Philipps Architects, engineer Thomasons, architect Barton Willmore and building services engineer Troup Bywaters + Anders.
