Lovell has won a contract to overhaul Tottenham鈥檚 once notorious Broadwater Farm estate.
The Homes for Haringey arm鈥檚-length management organisation (ALMO) has selected Lovell as its contractor to refurbish the north London estate, where one of the UK鈥檚 worst peacetime riots broke out in 1985.
Lovell is carrying out the project as part of a wider 拢60m contract that it has secured with the ALMO to bring up to scratch its housing stock in the north Tottenham area.
The ALMO, which has been set up to refurbish Haringey council鈥檚 16,700 dwellings in line with the Decent Homes standard, has selected Apollo Group Holdings, Mulalley & Co and the Wates Group to carry out the remainder of the 拢300m contract.
It has also selected Potter Raper Partnership, Ridge and Partners, John Rowan & Partners, and Bucknall Austin as its construction consultants.
However, the release of funding that is necessary to carry out the revamp is conditional on Homes for Haringey receiving a favourable report from the Audit Commission on the quality of its housing management.
