Jarvis announced this week that chief executive Alan Lovell will definitely step down at the end of June.
It is understood that he will move to private equity group Terra Firma.
It was always expected that Lovell, who was hired by Jarvis in October 2004 to resolve its financial woes, would only take on the role temporarily.
He made it clear from the outset that he planned to move on after leading the company's recovery.
As planned, Richard Entwistle will take over Lovell's role. Entwistle joined Jarvis last year as chief operating officer.
Steven Norris, executive chairman of Jarvis, said: "Alan Lovell has made a quite outstanding and positive difference to Jarvis, having simultaneously achieved a turnaround in the operational performance of the business and completed one of the most challenging financial restructurings of recent times."
