Saw Swee Hock Student Centre by O鈥橠onnell & Tuomey Architects is favourite to win the Stirling prize
The new student centre at the London School of Economic is the bookies favourite for this year鈥檚 Stirling Prize, ahead of the award of the prestigious architecture gong tomorrow night.
The Saw Swee Hock Student Centre by O鈥橠onnell & Tuomey Architects is 11/8 favourite to win the Stirling prize, ahead of Zaha Hadid鈥檚 Olympic aquatics centre and the Shard, by Renzo Piano, which are both on 7/2.
The Everyman Theatre in Liverpool, designed by Haworth and Tompkins is the fourth favourite, followed by outsiders the Library of Birmingham, by Mecanoo, and the Manchester School of Art, by Feilden Clegg Bradley Studios, which were both on 10/1.
Irish architects Sheila O鈥橠onnell and John Tuomey were named as the 2015 recipients of the RIBA鈥檚 Royal Gold Medal last month, which recognises an outstanding contribution to architecture.
The pair founded their Dublin-based practice O鈥橠onnell & Tuomey in 1988, having previously worked together for Stirling Wilford Associates and Colquhoun & Miller in London.
