Liz Peace, chief executive of the British Property Federation, and Graham Watts, chief executive of the Construction Industry Council, were among industry figures named by the Queen in the New Year鈥檚 Honours List.
Watts was awarded an OBE for services to the construction industry and Peace received a CBE for services to the property industry.
Peace said it was 鈥渏olly good to have the property industry recognised鈥. She praised the government for taking on proposals from the industry, 鈥渆ven if it does things we don鈥檛 like鈥. She said: 鈥淭he industry is doing quite well, with knighthoods streaming in steadily.鈥
Other honours include John Sorrell, Cabe鈥檚 chairman, who was knighted for services to the creative industries, and Ian McAllister, Network Rail鈥檚 chairman, who was knighted for his services to transport.
Adrian Wyatt, chief executive of property developer Quintain, received an OBE for services to the property industry. Stewart Milne, chairman and chief executive of the Stewart Milne Group, received a CBE for services to housebuilding in Scotland.
Barbara Thorndick, chief executive of West Kent Housing Association, received an OBE for her contribution to social housing.
Christine Hawley, dean of the Bartlett and head of the built environment faculty at University College London, received a CBE for services to architectural education.
