Midlands contractors shuts with loss of 240 jobs
Midlands contractor Linford Group has been made insolvent with the loss of 240 jobs.
The Lichfield-based contractor, which specialised in refurbishment and was only this awarded a prize by the BRE for its 鈥淩enewables House鈥 at the Innovation Park in Watford, decided yesterday to cease trading.
The 40-year old firm has most employees in its Lichfield headquarters. The 140-year old parent company of the Group, F & EV Linford, has not been made insolvent and is so far unaffected.
Birmingham-based corporate recovery firm Butcher Woods is handling the insolvency.
Richard Goodwin from the firm said: 鈥淭he company is unfortunately another casualty of the difficulties currently being faced in the construction industry.
鈥淲e are doing what we can to work with all parties involved to maximise realisations.鈥
He said the redundancies were with 鈥渋mmediate effect鈥.
