Colwyn Foulkes & Partners designed-scheme to go ahead after Court of Appeal ruling
The Colwyn Foulkes & Partners designed-scheme to convert a grade-II listed building into a luxury hotel and golf course has finally been granted planning permission following a lengthily legal battle.
The scheme to convert Cherkley Court in Leatherhead in Surrey into a luxury hotel was originally granted planning permission by Mole Valley District Council in May 2012.
However, the planning permission was quashed by the High Court in August 2013.
But last week, the court of appeal overturned the High Court鈥檚 decision and the scheme, developed by Longshot Cherkley Court, will now go ahead.
The house, which is the former residence of Lord Beaverbrook, will be converted into a 48 bedroom hotel with two restraints, a health club, spa and cookery school.
The 370-acre grounds will be converted to include an 18-hole golf course, designed by designer David McLay Kidd.
