Council says scheme will save taxpayers in the south London borough £4.5m a year
Lambeth council has given the green light to a major redevelopment of its town hall and offices in Brixton, which it says will save taxpayers in the south London borough around £4.5m a year.
The scheme by architect Cartwright Pickard for Muse Developments will see a new council office built, while the grade II-listed town hall and neighbouring properties will also be revamped.
The development will deliver close to 200 homes.
The initiative will trim the number of the council’s core office buildings from 14 down to just two. Construction is expected to begin by the start of next year.
