£60m Network ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV job due to start later this summer

Kier has scored a coup after pipping Sir Robert McAlpine to a £60m office and retail scheme on Tottenham Court Road for Derwent, ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV understands.

The job, called the Network ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV, is Kier’s first for the developer – and means McAlpine’s wait for the chance to work with Derwent goes on after missing out on a £158m mixed-use project in Baker Street with that job heading the way of Laing O’Rourke earlier this year.

A pitch from Skanska, which last month handed over the £57m mixed-use Featherstone ºÃÉ«ÏÈÉúTV at Old Street to Derwent, was dropped earlier in the process leaving Kier and McAlpine to fight it out.

The seven-storey building will cover just over 64,000 sq ft of space and has been designed by Piercy & Company which has worked with Derwent before on its Turnmills and Copyright buildings. Project manager is Blackburn.

Keltbray has been appointed to the enabling works with work set to start shortly with the job due for completion in 2025.

Kier has been rebuilding its presence in the London commercial market in the past couple of years, targeting jobs worth around £50m to £60m.

Last autumn, the firm beat Mace and McAlpine to a mixed-use scheme set to go up close to Tottenham Court Road Crossrail station in London’s West End.

The firm was named preferred bidder for the two-stage tender for developer CO-RE, which is masterminding the six-storey block with M&G Real Estate, last October and is now understood to have closed out the deal thought to be worth in the region of £50m.

And earlier this year it inked another debut deal, this time for Stanhope, to build a £50m residential scheme at the former TV Centre in West London.
