New Tory mayoral candidate claims there is civil war between Labour incumbent and London Boroughs on housing targets
New London mayoral candidate Boris Johnson attacked the housing policy of Ken Lvinigstone, claiming it was 鈥渄ictatorial鈥 and 鈥渦ndemocratic鈥.
Johnson, who was selected as Conservative candidate this morning, told the BBC鈥檚 Today programme that he would not impose schemes that included 鈥渞abbit hutch-sized dwellings鈥 or insist on 50% social housing in new projects if he were in power.
He claimed there was a civil war currently between an 鈥渆gotistical鈥 Livingstone and the London boroughs over housing and that we would work in partnership with the boroughs rather than impose targets on them.
Johnson said he firmly backed more shared equity schemes to help Londoners get on the housing ladder.
